World Class Fly Fishing on Quesnel Lake

Quesnel Lake is the deepest freshwater fjord lake in the world and home to world-class rainbow trout fishing.

With a long stretch of beach on the property, fly fishing opportunities can be found seconds from the lodge or in the nearby feeder streams of Quesnel Lake.  Quesnel Lake rainbow trout are the trophy fish of the lake.  They are famous for their large size due to their older spawning age than other strains of rainbow trout.  This allows the fish to grow larger before spawning and makes the Quesnel Lake strain a unique fishing experience not to be missed by any avid fly fisher.

Hobson lake in the nearby Wells Gray Provincial Park has opportunities for excellent rainbow and bull trout trophy fishing, with Silvertip Lodge as the closest access point.

A short walk through an old-growth cedar forest brings anglers wanting to fly fish to the mouth of Blue Lead Creek.  Fly fish in the spring or visit the creek in the fall to witness the spectacular annual salmon run.  Sockeye salmon and kokanee fill the feeder streams while plenty of whitefish and char can be found in Quesnel Lake.

Aluminum motorized fishing boats are available for use at Silvertip including down-rigging equipment that can reach the depths of the lake.

Backcountry Hiking

Waterfalls

With the Cariboo Mountains surrounding the lodge, extensive backcountry hiking terrain can be found the moment you step outside.  The lodge is a great base for guests wishing to hike nearby or up in the alpine Heli-hiking areas.  Helicopters can be arranged to fly guests over the Cariboo Mountains to incredible locations, where guests enjoy spectacular alpine views and hikes among pristine glacier lakes.

For avid backcountry hikers looking for a higher level of adventure, Silvertip Lodge offers the closest access point to the northern more spectacular landscape of Wells Gray Provincial Park.  Few hikers have made the trek through much of this area, which remains untouched by human contact.

Eagle

Our lodge, which is very remote, occasionally has visitors from the Animal Kingdom.  Visitors include Moose, Timber Wolves, Black Bear, Mountain Goats and Grizzly Bears as they meander through the property.  Eagles are spotted frequently as they fish along the shores.  Bring a camera, as these encounters are amazing.

Activities Around The Lodge

Guests don’t have to go far to enjoy the summer at Silvertip Lodge.  A short stroll through nearby trails will bring you to giant cedar trees.  Guests may also choose to relax on the sandy beaches of Quesnel Lake.  They may decide that sitting on the dock with a drink may be in order, followed by a quick dip in the lake.  For those guests who crave a little more activity, yoga accessories are available for use at any time.  And finally, to help you unwind, a bit of meditation by the lake, followed by time in the spa is always recommended.

What Others Say…

“Incredible fishing surrounded by breathtaking views!  Silvertip Lodge was the most surreal, relaxing experience I’ve had in a long time.  From the moment we stepped onto the dock, the staff were so friendly and accommodating.  Hands down the best staff you could ask for all around!  The lodge itself was so cozy.  From the roaring fire in the great room to a relaxing sauna and hot tub to finish off the evenings.   Amazing food throughout the day – the chefs nailed every meal.  Quesnel Lake has some of the best sites and fishing around – we cannot wait to go back :)”

T.S – Quesnel, B.C. Canada

“I absolutely cannot rave about this establishment enough. The amount of attention we were given by the silvertip staff was incredible. Our group of friends is not needy, picky or by any means fancy – however – we walked away from that four day trip feeling more relaxed than any of us have in years.  Not only was the lodge equipped with everything you could think of from board games, endless firewood, unlimited snacks, warm cookies , and smiling faces – but when we asked if a fire could be lit for the sauna or the hot tub it was already done.

Not having to decide what we were eating, or having any pressure of what to do was simply amazing. We were either fishing or hanging out at the lodge in the hot tub or on the beach.  The kitchen staff, groundskeepers and hosting staff were second to none.  If we could give 10 stars we would.  We had our weekend booked before we even took off from the dock to go home. Do yourself a favour and bring your family, bachelor party, friends group out for a 3 to 4 day trip and enjoy the hell out of yourselves.  Hands down – amazing experience.”
